How did you come up with the idea for this product?
I was waiting in line for a burrito at my favorite taqueria and watching the cooks move mounds of carne asada (grilled beef) from the griddle to a large storage container. They used two long metal spatulas and I remember thinking, “Man, I hope they don’t drop any of that carne asada.” It was a small kitchen and the chance of someone bumping into each other seemed high. I thought it would be a shame if they dropped any carne asada and it would be great if there were something like those two spatulas but that was one piece with a fold in the middle, so there was no chance of any (or all!) of the carne asada falling through the middle of the two spatulas. A little while later, the ScooperDuper was born.
What makes your product special?
It solves a very common problem in the kitchen: How do you move chopped food? It transforms from flat to V-shaped, which is perfect for scooping up food from the cutting board and putting it into a pot, pan, or bowl. The V-shaped fold holds food securely in place while you move it. You don’t think your life will be that much better when you can walk around freely with broccoli and not have to worry about any of it spilling, but trust me, it is!
Most people are either lifting up their cutting board and scraping the chopped food off with a knife or they are moving the chopped food off the cutting board with their hand and their knife. The ScooperDuper is an improvement to both of those situations. It’s much lighter to lift up than a cutting board, especially if you use a thick butcher’s block. And it’s much wider than a knife. You shouldn’t be limited by the width of your knife when you’re moving food, that’s ridiculous. Knives were made for chopping, so let them chop, and let the ScooperDuper do the scooping and moving of food that it was made for.
There are other food scoopers out there but they are designed like dustpans and have side walls, which get in the way when you try to move food off of them with a knife. It’s easy to scoop food onto them but it’s harder to get the food off of them. They also don’t have a fold in the center, so it’s hard to aim the food anywhere. If you’ve ever lifted up a cutting board and scraped food off of it with a knife and missed your target, then you know what I’m talking about. The patented fold in the center of the ScooperDuper does 2 things: (1) It makes the scooper V-shaped, so food won’t fall off the sides while you’re moving it, and (2) It makes it easier to funnel food into its destination, because it’s going towards the point of the V-shape as you pour it out. I also sometimes make it flat at the last minute and then scrape it off if I’m moving it to a large target that I’m not worried about missing, like a large pot or pan.

Better For Bulk Use, Restaurant/Party Setting
Better to use when cutting in bulk. Itâs easier just to use lift up cutting board and slide contents, or slide chopped foods onto the flat surface of a chef knife or cleaver to do transfer if youâre making a small batch or individual serving. Could be useful in small batches if the pot or bowl/plate is not near you for some reason (unless you’re clumsy). Nothing wrong with not using it for small tasks, but its more dishes to wash, tool/utensils to put awayYou can cut on this multi-tool, but the surface area is very small and not ideal. I guess you can use it during emergencies when you donât have a cutting board availableThumb button is a bit stiff, doesnât look as smooth as in the stock video/photos. Need a bit of thumb force to make it bend. Only had it for several days, no sure about durability or if it will break in overtimeAside from the negatives/suggested use-case suggestions so far; it works as intended

I use this all the time since getting it. I do a lot of chopping and slicing and this works wonderful to scoop and transfer food from one place to another with no mess. I don’t really use the option to bend it at this point, but like having that option available. Cleans up easy.

Amazon made it extremely difficult to exchange the item, even though it was torn and broken upon delivery. We decided not to bother exchanging it because of the cost. Just isn’t worth my time and patience. Feel extremely let down by the appalling quality of this item and would advise not to buy it.
