It Works!
This book gives excellent advice using solid research and examples. Using this method has helped me lose weight easily and consistently. My overall health has improved greatly by following its fasting program. I highly recommend this to anyone who has had trouble shifting unwanted pounds, and who wants to improve their health. I am 70 years old and have had weight issues for years. Using this method, I have finally been able to lose a significant amount of weight easily.

AMAZING GAME CHANGER MUST-READ!! I started learning about a lot of these concepts about eating around 2007 when I was dating a chiropractor that was in maximized living. I used to go with him to all the seminars and learn all of this top-notch stuff. I practiced with it all and got increasingly better at all of the concepts over nearly two decades; however it never really truly clicked for me believe it or not until I just read this book! My mother and I are loving the book, I just ordered eat like a girl, we are following it 1000% and I am also now under the coaching and guidance of one of the fast like a girl certified coaches. Intermittent Fasting Designed For a Woman’s Hormone regulation and More
I’ve gotten a lot out of this book because it’s written for women of all ages to balance hormones and treat other issues, like autoimmune responses, diabetes, infertility, and more. Dr. Pelz backs up all her recommendations with research and a description of how our body’s different systems are affected by our food choices. She has designed a diet plan that works with the data to support estrogen production at the right time, then progesterone production, and two more phases that complete a monthly cycle. I have almost finished the 30 day “reset” intermittent fasting plan and have already lost 7 pounds (even though that wasn’t my original goal) and I’ve got a lot more energy and clarity of thought. My friends and family all comment about an improvement in my energy. If you’re ready to try intermittent fasting backed by science to regulate your hormones and reset your gut biome, or just lose some weight and feel more energetic, Fast Like A Girl is worth reading.

Still reading it but what I e read so far is great. It makes a lot of sense and Iâm now fasting every day. I only eat between 1pm and 6pm. I feel more energy and healthier. Get this book, itâs worth the read.

Could Have Had a *Bit* More Info, But Really Well-Written Nonetheless
There is a lot of good info in this book with zero filler, I just wish it had a more *practical* layout (I’ll explain) and a bit more information.If you’ve been fasting for awhile you can probably skip the first two parts of this book (‘the science’ of fasting and ‘the art’ of fasting) and skip ahead to the third part (the 30-day fasting cycle). This third portion of the book has a way of eating that supports the hormones that come along with your menstrual cycle. So throughout your cycle, you’re cycling what type of foods to eat and you’re changing up the lengths of your fasts in, in accordance with which hormones need nutritional support at varying times of the month.After this 30-day fast portion of the book, there are a few tidbits such as how to break a fast, hacks that help with fasting, and then some recipes.Here’s my issue with the book: the layout could be better, and by ‘better’ I mean more information all in one place. In part 3, there’s a chart that of a typical 28/30 day menstrual cycle and it includes fasting lengths and whether you should be eating the ketobiotic way or the hormone feasting way. (There’s two ways of eating within this whole 30-day food/hormone cycling: ‘Ketobiotic’ and ‘Hormone Feasting.’) I would have liked to have also seen a chart that lists all of the foods I should be eating on any particular day during this whole cycle, as opposed to flipping back to earlier parts of the book to see which food support estrogen or flipping ahead to each sub-section to learn which foods support progesterone. Like, please: just give me a day-to-day example of what to eat, all in one chart or at least all on one page!I also would have appreciated examples of what X amount of carbs or protein looks like. ‘Eat 50 grams of net carbs on these days’ but I’m not going to tell you what that looks like. ‘Eat 75 grams of protein on these days,’ but I’m not going to tell you what that looks like, either. ‘On these days, 60% of your calories should come from fat,’ but I’m not going to explain what that looks like on your average lunch plate while said fat is alongside carbs and protein. Kind of reminds me how the IRS knows exactly how much you owe them for taxes, but you have to figure it out on your own and if you’re wrong then you’re in big trouble.

New favorite book – teaching my daughters!
Love this book. Teaching me all sorts of helpful hormonal strategies. The podcasts say most of the info, but I like referencing the charts. Iâve been keto and fasting for years. I reached plateau in my weight. So now Iâm cycling adding more carbs and practicing longer fasts and using a monitor. All have helped me with my mood and hunger. I will update if my stall breaks and I actually lose weight from the changes.

A Must-Have Book in Every Women’s Library
I originally heard Dr. Mindy Pelz for the first time on a podcast. Her insight and passion was beyond comparison and had to find more of her resources. This book is an exceptional resource to give ANYONE a better understanding of women’s bodily changes, hormones, gut health, and overall health. She’s broken everything down into a logical progression of information, building upon her concepts throughout the book. The charts/tables in the book are helpful, and the way the book has been laid out helps for easy note-taking and scanning for future reference. She also has GREAT food suggestions–down to snacks, meals, etc. I’m early in my journey of my fasting reset, so I can’t speak to end result, but if you’re looking for a lifestyle change that works, with a competent health practitioner, you need to pick up this book.

Iâm so happy with this book! I bought her book after watching one of her videos, read it in two weeks and now Iâm on day 10 of the 30 day reset that is outlined in this book. Excellent information for any woman to apply to her daily life. This book is geared towards women who want to feel better, lose weight, and perhaps heal health issues and works on a keto-geared lifestyle with attention to our hormonal cycle. The information was so helpful to me, and as a nurse it was a great refresher in the science of how hormones work. Iâve already lost nearly 7 pounds in 10 days from applying the info of fasting, low sugar meals and exercise. I have been struggling for the last 15 years with constant weight gain despite working out at least 3 times a week with regular walking, running, and skiing and it just wasnât working. I needed to change what I ate, and fast (pun totally intended). Fasting has provided me with a clear head, and a feeling of increased productivity. I am not looking back, only forwards and feel so energetic. Honestly, there were a couple of rough days but I stuck it through. You have to expect the body to cleanse itself during the first time of fasting and with that comes some symptoms. I have tried the ketogenic diet before, approximately 4 years ago and i lost 20 pounds in a couple of months but regained it back plus more because I didnât know how and when to properly fast. Itâs difficult to think about where I could be now, had I had this book THEN! Missed knowledge then, but now that I have it today I am happy and no more struggling. I will come back in a couple of months and update.

I have been familiar with Dr Mindy Pelz work for a few years now, after stumbling across her interview with Dave Asprey – I have never looked back.My journey was to use fasting for health and weight and to understand my Perimenopause issues and Dr Mindy’s advice has healed me, reversing those night sweats, broken sleep and mood swings etc. that kicked in not long after turning 40.Dr Mindy is an advocate for people’s health and has a plethora of geeky science, hacks, tips and tricks to help people, especially women to be empowered with their health and hormones. (check out YouTube).This book is a true Bible to help any woman, regardless of age, cycle or post menopause, to take back control of our health. I have learnt more from Dr Mindy, about how to look after my hormones than I have through school. This book needs to be in taught in schools to better educate our young girls.The book breaks down the science of our bodies and hormones and what each one does and how to look after them. It’s explained why we struggle at certain times of the month and the healing powers of fasting and feasting and key foods for which hormones, gut health, muscles etc. Is bestEach area of womans health is shined upon within the pages of this book.There is a 30 reset plan and in appendix C, these 30 days are adjusted to help specific conditions ie infertility, thyroid, autoimmune conditions etc. Which I love, as every consideration has been lovingly mapped out easy.I love the food recommendation for helping the healing process, from ketobiotic days, hormone feasting days and gut reset days etc. To name a few. No stone has been left unturned. There is also recipes to get you started.This is a powerful book and a must for ever female looking for health, healing or to just better understand her hormones.I have read Dr Mindy’s book the menopause reset, which helped me through my crushing symptoms of Perimenopause, that I didn’t understand and not getting much help from my GP, with bloods coming back fine and an offer to medicate or going the natural way.The tools in Fast Like A Girl, will see me through my life, and adopting this as a lifestyle. I have witnessed first hand how fasting has healed both me and my husband.I was pleased to see that there is an app for Fast Like A Girl, though this is for iPhones.
