A helpful tool for the infrequent cook
These knife grips are an interesting concept, designed to improve control and stability while chopping. They attach to the spine of a knife using suctionâwet them, press them onto the blade, and squeeze to create a grip. The effectiveness varies; sometimes they hold firmly, while other times they slip over time. Proper fit depends on blade thickness rather than knife size, which took some trial and error to figure out.For those learning proper knife technique or looking for a way to distribute pressure more evenly, these grips could be helpful. They donât provide much cushioning, but they do enhance stability, which might reduce strain for those who experience discomfort during extended chopping. However, they donât work well with knife blocks, as the extra bulk prevents the blade from sliding all the way in. If stored in a drawer, they tend to come off and get lost, requiring reattachment before each useâa minor inconvenience that sometimes leads to skipping them altogether. For users with grip issues or frequent hand fatigue, these could be a game-changer. One reviewer, a preschool teacher, found them invaluable while chopping large amounts of vegetables, preventing bruising and soreness from prolonged use. Another user, who often experienced pain when chopping garlic, appreciated how the grips relieved pressure on their index finger. The set includes three sizes, fitting anything from paring knives to chefâs knives, and theyâre made of soft, dishwasher-safe silicone. While they wonât be essential for everyone, they offer a unique solution for those who struggle with knife control or discomfort. The price feels a bit high for what they are, but for those who need them, they could be well worth it.

Love my gripprs!
They work nicely. I have been using these grippers for a few days now and I find they really help relieve the blade pressure and my fingers. I am an amateur cook and I enjoy chopping everything by hand. After you have been chopping for a while, you do feel the difference: if you used Gripprs your pointing finger does not get numbed by the blade.

Wish they were bigger
I love knife grips like these. However these ones are too small. The small size makes it so the grip isn’t improved much and they are so easy to loose you wont have it on your knife long unfortunately.

Helpful, but could be improved upon
I got this “Knife Grip, the indispensable culinary kitchen tool for better comfort and control for most chef’s knives, utility, boning, Nakiri, Santoku and paring knives” set hoping to help with hand discomfort during food prep. These are supposed to straddle the back of a knife and suction-cup to them and stay in place while the knife is being used. I can say that I have yet to get the suction-cup to work, however, the cushions themselves do help, when I need to do more precise work and my hand has to move further up the hilt of the knife (i.e. cutting/removing strings from green beans). It’s nice to have a little cushion between my hand and the knife back in those cases. This is probably something I won’t use all the time, but it’s nice to have for when I need it.

Excellent Knife Control and No More Pain When Chopping!
I have been waiting for a product like this forever! It couldn’t have arrived at a better time. I am a preschool teacher and I just spent the last week chopping pounds and pounds of vegetables with the children preparing for our Stone Soup celebration. The Grippr gave me excellent knife control, which helped to speed up the process. Before if I was chopping for any length of time, my finger was raw and bruised , but not this time – the soft silicon device fit perfectly on my knife without slipping and was the perfect cushion for my finger during the hours of dicing. If you are a home cook who finds chopping painful and tedious, this is the tool for you. It’s an integral part of my kitchen now. I will be getting a set for all the cooks in my life!

Interesting concept, not sure it’s necessary
I sometimes get bad hand cramps when chopping, so I was curious if these would help. Juryâs still out on that. They work by suctionâyou wet them, press them onto the knife spine, and squeeze to get them to grip the blade. The hold varies, thoughâsometimes itâs firm, other times it starts slipping over time. It took me a minute to realize that the right size depends on blade thickness, not knife size. I originally tried the largest one on my chefâs knife (big knife, big grip, right?), but it kept sliding off. The medium one fit better.I can see these being useful for someone learning proper knife technique or needing a guide for where to position their fingers. One of my bad habits is choking up too much on the blade, and I think these could help correct that over time. They donât provide much paddingâitâs more about control than cushioningâbut they do improve stability and pressure distribution, which might help if you get sore from extended chopping. One thing I didnât fully consider is that they donât work with knife blocksâsince they sit on the blade, the knife wonât slide all the way into the slot. If you store your knives in a drawer instead, they also tend to come off and get lost in there, so you have to dig them out and reattach them before each use. More often than not, I donât bother and just use the knife without it, which kind of defeats the purpose. The concept is interesting, but Iâm not convinced theyâre essential. If gripping a knife is a struggle, they could be a game-changer, but if you already have good knife control, they might feel unnecessary. Theyâre well made and easy to clean, but the price feels a little steep for what they are. Iâll keep testing them out, but for now, Iâd say they could be great for some peopleâjust maybe not for everyone.
