Have you spent weeks, months, or even years trying to achieve your goals but keep failing? Have you given up on becoming successful because your futile efforts have led you to believe that success is only for the select few?
If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions – don’t worry, there is still hope for you!
Before you can achieve anything in life, you need a solid foundation of self-discipline. Talent, intelligence, and skill are only a part of the equation. Positive thinking, affirmations, and vision boards are only a part of the equation. If you want to turn your dreams into reality, you need self-discipline.
Self-discipline is what will keep you focused when all hell is breaking loose, and it looks like you are one step away from failure. It will give you the mental toughness required to dismantle the limitations you have placed on yourself and all obstacles standing in the way of your goals.
How would you feel if I told you that your inability to achieve your goals does not arise because you are lazy or lack drive, but rather it’s a problem because you have never been taught how to practice self-discipline? People are not born with self-discipline. Like driving or playing tennis, it’s a skill that you learn.
In The Power of Discipline you will discover:
How to master self-discipline by targeting certain areas of the brainWhat is the Navy SEALs’ secrets to self-disciplineWhat are the Zen Buddhists’ secrets to self-disciplineHow to ditch your bad habits and adopt the habits of successful peopleWhat are the strategies to keep going when your motivation runs out

There’s a lot of fluff sprinkled with pseudoscience but there’s some good advice in between
First off the negative: after listening I had to double check the date because some of these motivational talking points I haven’t heard in ages, like the 80/20 baloney (80% of value only comes from 20% of people). The first few chapters are filled with fluff, talking about MRI scanning brain activity and there’s spots in the brain activated when their discipline is occurring or whatever (as you can tell i barely could pay attention). Then they go on about you should not be easily offended and don’t complain which is ok advice for this book, but in my opinion all the conveniences we have today came from people communicating and identifying problems they’re having (complainers) but I get the topic of the book I bought and I’ll let it slide. The biggest problem i have with this book (other than the cringey motivational tone ‘if you listen to this advice your life will change forever and you’ll achieve all your goals yipiee!”) is how much they look up to authority like Bill Gates or Oprah and they keep naming different athletes and celebrities as the book goes on. Like not everybody respects them or want to be like them. I just want to learn about discipline for my own reason. If I got the physical book I would black out all the unnecessary information. My Last problem but just a minor one, talking about hard work and all that while talking about renting your home and being afraid of renting out to bad tenants as an example in the next sentence is not only a contradiction, it’s just scummy behavior in my opinion, for a book that talks about being your best self and all that. All of that being said, there’s still good advice in this book. It’s just this author and I don’t see eye to eye on many things which kind of lowers the value for me. There’s nothing mind blowing but I think if you follow the advice and ignore all the motivational mumbo jumbo your life will improve. I just finished the book and I’m gonna try all of these exercises out. This book is big on meditation, i’m skeptical about it but i’m open minded and I’ll give it a shot. If I succeed in following in this book I’ll edit this review in several months about the results.

Top!

As a mother of three young boys (ages 1, 3, and 5), finding time to read has been a challenge. However, I set a New Year’s resolution to read 12 self-improvement books, starting with “The Power of Discipline” by Daniel Walter. This book has been transformative for me. Initially, I felt overwhelmed by life, but by the end, I became more focused, grateful, and happy. I established daily goals that significantly improved my life within a few weeks.Being a mom often feels like being on auto-pilot, stuck in a routine that leaves you exhausted by the end of the day. I realized that my constant exhaustion was affecting my decision-making and leading to unproductive habits like excessive social media use. This book taught me the importance of breaking the cycle of bad habits and replacing them with activities that align with the life I want to lead, such as praying more, eating healthier, drinking more water, and establishing a morning routine before the kids wake up.One of the most impactful lessons from this book was the importance of setting and maintaining goals. I began by listing the most important things in my life and implementing strategies to achieve them. My first goal was to pray more, both in the morning and at night, for myself, my husband, and our kids. This practice brought numerous positive changes to our lives and I want to emphasize that without God, I won’t have been able to make all the changes that I did in my life.Another goal was to start exercising regularly. I now wake up at 5:50 am every day to work out in my basement, and it feels incredible. This book emphasized the importance of setting your mind to something, making a plan, and following through. Writing things down has also been a helpful practice.”The Power of Discipline” is a must-read for anyone looking to make meaningful changes in their life. It provides practical strategies for setting and achieving goals, breaking bad habits, and creating a more focused and fulfilling life. Whether you’re a busy parent or someone looking to improve their daily routine, this book offers valuable insights that can help you transform your life. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to become the best version of yourself.
